President & Chief Executive Officer
Brad Davis is President and CEO of DukeNet Communications. Davis has been with the company for 12 years. He joined Duke Power, a former Duke Energy company, in 1982 as an engineer at Catawba Nuclear Station and later was named manager of information systems at McGuire Nuclear Station. After serving in several leadership positions in the corporate I/S department, Davis was named Vice President of engineering and operations for DukeNet in 2001. He was named president of DukeNet Communications in 2003 and became CEO and President in 2010. In 2012, Brad was named a finalist for the prestigious Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
Davis received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina State University and a master's degree in business from Queens University.
Chief Operating Officer
Tony Cockerham is Chief Operating Officer of DukeNet Communications. Previously, Cockerham served as Vice President of sales and business development (February 2009 through June 2011), Vice President of sales and customer operations (April 2006 through February 2009), Vice President of engineering and operations (October 2003 through April 2006), director of network planning and engineering (February 2001 through October 2003) and project manager (April 1999 through February 2001) for DukeNet Communications.
Before joining DukeNet in 1999, Cockerham spent three years in engineering and project management roles in Duke Energy's Telecommunications department and six years in various positions at BellSouth including network engineering, infrastructure planning, sales technical support, and project management.
Cockerham received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (Magna Cum Laude) from North Carolina State University and a Master of Science in Telecommunications Systems Management from Southern Methodist University.
Senior Vice President, General Counsel & Secretary
Lin Altamura has served as Senior Vice President, General Counsel & Secretary of DukeNet Communications since September 2010. Prior to joining the company, Altamura held the positions of associate general counsel for Cogentrix Energy, LLC and chief counsel for Sara Lee Corporation’s branded apparel division. She has over 22 years of experience spanning multiple industries, including energy and telecommunications. She has extensive experience in project development, acquisitions, joint ventures and financings, as well as in corporate governance and compliance.
Altamura is a graduate of Dartmouth College and Stanford Law School.
Senior Vice President & CFO
Jane Salter joined the company as CFO in November 2010. For the preceding four years, she was Chief Financial Officer of Global Tower Partners (GTP), the fourth largest independent owner of telecommunications towers in the USA where she oversaw finance, accounting, human resources and information technology. During her tenure at GTP, the private-equity-backed company grew its revenues more than three-fold via organic growth and over 200 acquisitions, completed two privately-placed securitization financings totaling $730 million and several senior credit facilities to finance the acquisitions. Prior to GTP, Salter was a partner with Ernst & Young LLP in the Atlanta and Tampa offices, serving both publicly-held and privately-owned clients primarily in telecommunications and real estate industries.
Salter received a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She is also a Certified Public Accountant in Georgia, Florida and North Carolina.
Senior Vice President, Engineering, Procurement and Construction
Kevin Lane has served as Vice President of engineering, procurement and construction of DukeNet Communications since March 2006. Lane was responsible for business development at DukeNet from 2005 to March 2006. Prior to his DukeNet role, Lane worked for Duke Energy from 1997 through 2005 including roles at the new Duke Energy where he had overall responsibility for the implementation of PeopleSoft Financial system for the pipelines, power company and international business units of Duke Energy. As a division manager, Lane was responsible for the management of the workstation and enterprise database management services teams that provided this service corporate wide.
Before joining Duke Energy, Lane’s career spanned 20 years in various technical and managerial positions within information technology spanning application development, systems management and project management roles in the energy, aerospace and manufacturing business sectors including Duquesne Light Company from 1990 to 1996 where he was responsible for the implementation of the integrated customer Information system.
Lane received a B.S. in Computer Science from State University of New York.
Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing
Michael Prendergast joined the company as Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing in August 2011. Prendergast comes to DukeNet with over nineteen years of sales and marketing experience running enterprise, reseller, wholesale, and federal government sales channels at the national and regional levels. Prior to joining DukeNet, Prendergast served for eight years as the Vice President of National Sales at Time Warner Cable Business Class where he built a national sales model focused on selling data services into the Fortune 2000 market segment. In addition, he created successful national wholesale and reseller channel programs for the organization.
Prendergast received a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Stonehill College.
Vice President of Network Operations
Mike Taylor is Vice President of Network Operations, joining DukeNet in this role in late 2012. Mike brings years of experience with increasing levels of responsibility in both engineering and operations with T-Mobile and SunCom where he enjoyed both regional and national responsibilities. Mike’s focus at DukeNet is on Operational Excellence, with the primary goal of driving industry-leading measured network reliability levels and developing the processes and people needed to continue meeting these demands. Mike is a graduate of East Tennessee State University.
Vice President of Network Architecture and Technology Planning
David Herran is Vice President of Network Architecture and Technology Planning, responsible for guiding all technology decisions inclusive of new network architecture and product development. He also leads the product management function, sales engineering, and network development/expansion activities. Prior to this role, David served in various leadership positions at DukeNet and was largely responsible for the company’s success in FTTT/mobile backhaul. Before joining DukeNet in 2005, David served as a network engineer with Duke Energy. He graduated with high honors from Georgia Tech (BSEE) and received his MBA from the McColl School of Business at Queens College.
